Suggest Medication For Colitis

I have been on the depo shot for nearly 4 years and have developed colitis, I found a study done online and several stories about how people believe they were linked. I was told by my obgyn it wasn t linked in any way and I think it is. I was completely healthy up until almost a year ago and in the last 6 months I ve lost 100 pounds or more and the only thing consistant is the depo shot.

Hello,

I understand your concern. Although there is not enough research and studies conducted on this matter, there have many reports to the FDA about a possible link between Depo Provera and colitis. The cause is unknown and the link has not been confirmed, because in order to do so, there has to be enough evidence. So until now, any link between the two is speculation based on personal experience.
The best approach is, of course, to stop getting the depo shots and consider other forms of contraception, although, you must be aware that all forms of medical contraception carry a certain number of side effects. It is up to you and your doctor to decide what works best for you, while making sure it does not interfere with the treatment of colitis. The treatment of colitis consists of medicines and changes in your diet, but it mainly depends on the degree of the disease, which is to be determined by your doctor.

Wishing you good health and all the best.
