Suggest Diet To Control Cholesterol.

With my last blood donation I was told my cholesterol was at 278 and that I should see a doctor. Will olive oil and lemon juice dramatically reduce that number? There was no differential of hdl and ld; levels.. I had a cholecystectomy 5 years ago. What type of foods should be restricted from my diet? I currently eat a wide variation of foods but I do have gerds so I take omeprazole/magnesium daily. Does this affect the way the body processes fat or cholesterol?

Interesting indeed. Thank you for your query. Cholesterol 278 is a bit high. But with a bit of diet control and physical exercise it can definitely be controlled. Try to maintain a balanced diet with cereals , proteins ,vegetables . Even a little oil and fat is also required. Try to eat around 4-5 fruits a day. Keep away from fried food , soft drinks .After cholecystectomy , we generally advise to restrict oily food. Have small meals at regular intervals. That's all about the diet. Proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole yes you can take .Now , with this diet plan it would be great if you could add to that a bit of physical exercise and cardio workouts like walking and jogging. I can give you a trick. Just while coming home from any institution or office or college , step down at one bus stop earlier. Walk up that bit. Walking for half an hour for 5 days a week is good enough. Thank you
