Suggest Cause For Urethral Fistula

Hello, I will be going to a doctor soon but I just wanted to know what the causes for a urethral fistula are and what the procedure that deals with it is. Also, if I do not have an exact date for when I first noticed the fistula since it isn t recent, will that create problems for the doctors? What can I do to help the situation for the mean time other than wait for my appointment day?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my surgical experience, the urethral fistula is due to breach in the continuity of the urethral passage via various reasons as chronic infection, the sequence of some sort of urologic surgery, trauma or other reasons.

An ideal approach is the MRI evaluation of the fistula track with contrast to delineate the complete details and treat accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
