Suffering From Constant Dizziness, High BP. Alcoholic. Could That Be The Reason?

My Mum is 74 years old and suffering from constant dizziness. She has had extensive tests done and doctors and specialists can find no reason for this. She is otherwise reasonably healthy with well controlled high blood pressure (it's been established the medication is not to blame). Her weight is normal and she eats very healthy food and always has. She does however drink alcohol and would think nothing of having a few glasses of wine most nights. She drinks less than she used to but my question is can drinking your whole life - not always to excess - lead to this dizziness problem? I doubt whether she has mentioned alcohol to her doctors as she sees nothing wrong with this. Sorry it's a bit long winded, I'd appreciate your opinion. Many thanks Michelle

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Chronic alcoholism develops many diseases .
Quite amazing that we can't find these ( few) diseases in tests.
Peripheral neuropathy is one of them.
Wernicke's syndrome is a disease , symptoms are ophthalmoparesis, ATAXIA & encephalopathy.
Ataxia & encephalopathy causes dizziness.
Approximately 1 % alcoholics develop CEREBELLAR DEGENERATION which is responsible for dizziness.
Hope I have answered your question.
If further any question I will help.
Good luck.
