Suffering From A Blocked Ear. Tried Hot Water And Peroxide. Suggest Home Remedies

I ve been suffering from a blocked (seashell ear if you will) for almost eight weeks. I think it is originally swimmers ear, but I ve tried warm/hot water, oil, vinegar, alcohol (combinations of these), warm to hot dryer on low and today peroxide. I don t have insurance so need a home remedy. I have a customer service job and saying What all the time makes the seniors feel young. LOL

ENT Specialist 's  Response
hello and welcome to health care magic,

I am Dr Sriram nathan and i Shall try to help you out with your problem.

You seem to have blocked your ear either due to infection or wax or any other problems. I will try to to rule out some and suggest some treatments.

-take a course of antibiotic like amox-clav and anti histamine like levocetrizine in consultation with your doctor
-get an audiometric tsting done if possible and get back to me with the report
-Do not take head bath for two weeks and after that do not allow any water to enter the ear
-Do not put any other ear drops
-try steam inhalation with menthol at least three times in a day and see if that helps
- Ask for a friend to look into the ear for features of wax or any other features which you can share with me so that i can help you out better
-Remember that if you keep your ears clean and dry the drum and hearing will recover so do not try any excessive cleaning

If any other doubts get back to me
but if it persists for more than two weeks then you must consult an ENT for your ears sake.

regards

Dr Sriram Nathan
