Suffering From RA, Terrible Pain, Low Fever. Treatment?
Dear Doctor I am writing this query on behalf of my sister, in India who is suffering from RA. She is having terrible pain and it s not coming down. About six months back, with holistic yoga therapy here pains were drastically reduced. But all of a sudden, it increased. She is unable to do the yoga also now. Currently she is under going a Ayurvedic medicine in India, but it is not helping much. She is a pure vegetarian and trying to diet in all possible ways. She has low fewer up 100 always. Any advise is much appreciated. Regards Gopal
Well it seems that since your sister is not taking any medicine for Rheumatoid arthritis ,probably she has got a disease flare at this time. She needs to get herself evaluated for assessing the disease activity by doing specialised blood tests like CBC, ESR , CRP ,Xray of hands and feet to look for any deformities.
THERE are a large option of drugs available for treating this disease which are called DMARDS. Methotrxate is the sheet anchor for this disease. Since rheumatoid arthritis involves multiple organs it is not possible to control it with exercise or diet alone.
If you have any further queries feel free to ask. Wish you good health. Take care. Dr. Shruti
