Suggest Alternative Treatment For Diabetes

Posted on Mon, 2 Jan 2017
Question: Hello Doctor,
This is a question for Dr.S.Senthilnathan. One month back I had asked a query about my diabetes as I wanted to move away from allopathic medication to Homeopathic or Ayurvedic treatments. The fasting sugar was 143 and PP was 273. You advised me to take BGR34, Shuddha Guggulu and Nishamalaki tablets for a month. I did that and checked my sugar on Accuchek machine at home. The fasting was 153 and PP was 298.

Can you please advise how we take this forward.

Brief Answer:
Need certain clarifications

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,

I appreciate your concern. I will advise you properly in regards to your queries.

As your current blood sugar levels in fasting and post prandial seems to be moderately in the higher side.
Fasting around 130 to 140 and post prandial around 180 to 200 may be considered as good control with ayurvedic medications.

As your post prandial sugar levels seems to be high.

hope you remember as per pervious conversation I advised not to withdraw the allopathy medication for diabetes till you get a control over blood sugar levels with reference to decrease in dosage.

However I will guide you and i need certain clarifications from you.

Whether you are taking both allopathy medication and ayurvedic medications as of now? if so timing of both medication?

What are the symptoms do you suffer as of now?

Whether Diet pattern followed strictly and share your diet pattern with timing along with medication timing?

Do you practice yoga daily?

Kindly get back to me with details for further guidance.
Thanks and regards
DR.S.SENTHILNATHAN

Hello Doctor,

Yes, I was taking both the medications, Allopathic as well as Ayurvedic. I take Gemer 2 tablet just before lunch and dinner and BGR34 2 tables 30 minutes before lunch and dinner. I take Shuddha Guggulu 2 tablets in the noon and Nishamalaki 2 tablets after lunch and dinner. I am not suffering from any symptoms as such. I do not practice yoga but go to the gym alternate days and do cardio for the other days - like cycling, playing with kids, walking.

I have breakfast around 9:45am daily followed with lunch at 1pm and some snacks at 5pm (fruit, tea/coffee with digestive biscuits). Then around 7pm I again have some fruit or some namkeen. My dinner is a bit late at 11pm as I reach home that time. I try to follow a diabetic diet as far as possible but sometimes land up eating a sweet or food high in carbs, but I do not overeat any prohibited food for diabetics.

Brief Answer:
Let me explain

Detailed Answer:

Thanks for your information.

As from your quote you are not taking any medication in the morning. In the early morning hours, hormonal changes in your body will naturally cause blood glucose to rise. For people who don't have diabetes, the increase in blood glucose is offset by increased insulin production. For people with diabetes, this can be a problem as insulin is deficit.

Kindly take medication along with the breakfast. If possible split your breakfast into earlier(8am) and mid morning (11 am).

I need your HBA1C report. With your HBA1c report I can conclude whether your blood sugar is static or fluctuating. Kindly share it.

There is no wide difference between your blood sugar report in regards with adding on ayurvedic medication.

I suggest to continue the same medication with my below suggestion.
Kindly take medication along with breakfast.

Avoid late night dinner that will lead to digestion problem in future.as digestion power will go done in the night. Kindly take some chapatti with dal -around 8 pm in the office and while reaching home take sugar less milk around 11 pm.

Take methi (fenugreek) 3gm along with every big meal.
Stress is a major factor in uncontrolled diabetes. Even though if you are in proper dosage of medication, constant stress and anxiety will trigger blood sugar levels.

As I insist earlier in Ayurveda only oral medication will not be sufficient in controlling the sugar level, practicing yoga, meditation, strict diet control, healthy lifestyle will give potential benefit.

Hope I clarified your query. Kindly let me know if there any assistance.

Regards
Dr.S.Senthilnathan
