Sore Breasts, Pain In Afternoon And Evenings. Not Pregnant. Any Ideas?

My breasts have been sore for weeks and feel very firm to touch.....I am not pregnant though. I have done a breast examination and cant feel anything that's not supposed to be there. I feel the most pain in the afternoon and evenings, but they are sore all day. Most of the pain is around the sides and underneath. I have never experienced this before even when I was preganant.

Hi,
Thanks for your question.
There may be a number of reasons for this symptom. All are based on the fact that breasts are sensitive to hormones. So, some women have this complain during the second half of their menstrual cycle & during pregnancy. If you are taking hormones in any other form like pills, patches, passerines you may have this problem. If there is abnormal & unexpected hormone production in your body similar symptoms may arise. So, better to evaluate yourself keeping this information in mind, or, you may see a doctor for help. You should also check your serum prolactin levels.
Take care.
