Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

First monitor your kid for signs of dehydration.
Monitor for signs of dehydration.
They include
1. Decreased skin turgor
2. Increasing thirst.
3. Sunken eyes.
4. Irritability.
5. Drowsiness.
6. Decreasing passage of urine.

Oral rehydration solution should be given to prevent dehydration.
Your doctor started on antibiotic because your kid might be having dysentry.

Is there any blood in the stool?
Is your kid accepting feeds now?

Please reply.
Hope this helps.
Take care.

Pediatrician Dr. Synthyia Bhagat's  Response
Hi
Thanks for your query.
Your child is having diarrhea which is viral or bacterial in nature and subsides in few days.
In your case it will be bacterial in nature for which doctor has started antibiotic.
Continue with medication as advised.
Most important is to maintain hydration.
Give oral rehydration solution sip by sip after each loose stool.
Give lemonade,coconut water,curd,rice porridge.
Monitor for signs of dehydration like decreased urine output, lethargy, increased thirst and in case you observe any get him evaluated by pediatrician.
Wishing your baby good health.
God bless.
