Should Saline Nasal Rinse Be Avoided For Labryinthitis, Vertigo And Tinnitus?

I am a 32-year old male. I have been diagnosed with Labyrinthitis and experience vertigo, tinnitus, deafness in one ear, etc. I breath in steam twice a day for 5 minutes, but I cannot do so while at work. I have read that, among others, a low-salt diet may reduce the severity of the problem. Does that also exclude the use of a saline nasal rinse?

Hi,
Most like its menieres disease.Meniere's disease is a disorder of the inner ear that causes episodes in which you feel like spinning (vertigo), and you have fluctuating hearing loss with a progressive, ultimately permanent loss of hearing, ringing in the ear (tinnitus), and sometimes a feeling of fullness or pressure in your ear. In most cases, Meniere's disease affects only one ear.
So classic feature of menieres are
Sensorinual hearing looss
Vertigo
Tinnitus

Aural fulness.

You are not having labyrinthitis. All your symptoms points towards menieres.A thoruough investigation should be done as menieres is disease of exclusion.Test advice are -
1-A hearing test (audiometry) assesses how well you detect sounds at different pitches and volumes and how well you distinguish between similar-sounding words.

2-Vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMP) testing

3-Caloric test of inner ears

Treatment consist of low sodium diet along with diuretic
tablet stemetil and ativan acn be taken for verigo off and on as per your depand.

ADv
please go for a MRI brain and consult a neurotologist.
