Should I Continue Taking Zolofit As I Get Hot Flashes?

Well my doctor prescribed Zoloft where I was taking Elavil but I am kind of skeptical about trying another antidepressant drug and would like to know if I should just try the 5htp that I purchased prior to my doctors przzvisit. I am also experiencing hot flashes that the Zoloft is suppose to help. so will the 5htp help with the hot flashes as well or should I just go ahead and take the Zoloft that was prescribed.

Greetings Sir/Madam.

I am glad that i may be able to help you overcome your problem.

First of all i just like to know certain details from you.
Are you a male/female? What is your age? For what purpose you are taking such medicines? Except tablet Zoloft(which as per your details was prescribed by your doctor), were other tablets(viz., Elavil, 5-HTP) been taken after doctor advise or self medication? Are you under treatment for any Nervous Disorder/ Psychiatric condition ?

Well. As for off such medication is concerned, each of them have their own side effect on particular individual depending on many factors of patient. But symptom you've mentioned "HOT FLUSHES" is a common side effect of all the above mentioned drug( which will be experienced even in low/normal dose or as a result of medicine Overdose). All of these drugs can cause you severe Depression if taken for long time, ultimately resulting you in dangerous problem.

As of my opinion, my sincere advise is to Stop taking such medicines if that seems to bother/ feel troublesome/ interfere with your routine daily activities after consulting with your prescribing doctor. Or else ask him to give you lower doses of least medicine which you could be able to get along easily without such symptoms.

& Finally

Note:
Finally it's just a guidance. Not a definitive treatment as i haven't seen you personally. You've to realize that these are temporary remedies. I don't know what your exact condition is unless I see you personally. A doctor after personally examining you could help.

Hope it helped you.
