Should I Be Concerned About Nose Pain Caused Due To Injury?
About six weeks ago my large dog jumped up and hit me in the upper nose area with the back of her head. The force jammed my glasses into my face. most specifically the left nose piece. The nose piece was broken off and was briefly imbedded into the side of my nose. Since then I have experienced mild nose pain, I thought it could be sinus congestion. I tried a ten day round of amoxicillin and pseudoephedrine. however, the pain continues, and has become worse and more consistent. At times my teeth hurt and it hurts to move my eyes side to side. Should I be concerned? Could something more serious have happened as a result of the dog head butt?
I can understand your concern. From the description of your accident, it seems possible that you may have a small crack or fracture of a nasal bone that may cause pain in nose, congestion like symptoms along with referred pain in teeth and on eye movements. If it was just a bruise or concussion wound, the pain should have decreased in intensity rather than increasing.
My advise to you is to visit a Maxillofacial Surgeon or ENT Surgeon for the x-ray of the nasal bone area to find out presence of any bony injury. Treatment can be started after the x-ray is examined.
I hope this answer helps you. Thank you for choosing HCM. I wish you feel better soon.
