How To Cure Smell In The Nose Despite Wearing Mask?

I ve been suffering from allergic rhinitis for the past 2 years. Since my first sinus infection two years ago, there has been a foul smell coming from my nose. I heard other people describe it sometimes as poop-like smell, sometimes, rotten egg smell, and at times, rotting rice smell. I ve been doing the nasal wash for the past two years; religiously taking chlorpeniramine maleate 4g and pseudoephedrine HCL 60 mg every night, and loratadine every morning. I also spray 2 puffs of Rhinocort Aqua 64 mcg in each nostril every night. While the nasal inflammation has greatly improved, I think the foul smell is worse. People can smell it even when I m wearing a mask with carbon filter. Where is the smell coming from? What should I do? Please help.

Hello,

There are rather a lot of possibilities with a small area of infection. Going for 2-3 weeks in a very dry to desert-like climate worked for me.

Essentially ALL of my patients have some post nasal drip, dental issues, chronic sinus infection and these all can do this.

There can be just activation of the nerves involved. they tend to heal up. Any anti-epileptic...heck getting drunk... would change the nerve activity.

Amitryptiline or Dilantin would be two of the stronger ones. But certainly, I cannot tell what exactly is occurring in your situation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
