Should I Be Concerned About Hysterectomy/dnc Treatment Plans?

I am 55 years old and still getting my period monthly. I have high estrogen and was using an otc progesterone cream to help with sore breasts, migraines, etc. I am putting off a hysterectomy as suggested by several doctors because I want to get through the change naturally without surgeries. I was scheduled for a endometrial ablation( tissue sample of the uterus) because an ultra sound showed that I had fibroids and a cyst and left ovary, plus a thick uterine lining. The cream was a bit of a hassle as I was never sure if I was using the right amount and sometimes would forget to apply it at bedtime. My doctor was unable to perform the uterine sampling because mu uterus is tipped/tilted behind my pubic bone. she suggested a dnc, hysterectomy, or a trial of provera -5mg for 2 months and to follow up with another ultra sound to determine if the lining is still thick. Cancer doesn t run in my family but should I be concerned about this treatment plan? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Hello,
Thanks for sharing your health concern with us. I have gone through your query and here are the possible options: 1. You can ask your doctor if the endometrial sampling can be done under general anesthesia since this is essential when the endometrial lining is thick, especially at your age. Though you do not have a family history, precaution must be executed. 2. If the biopsy report is normal, you can go with progesterone treatment as suggested by your doctor. This often helps in a smooth transition. 3. Hysterectomy is a better alternative to endometrial ablation considering your age and also the fact that you have fibroids and ovarian cyst. Hope this helps.
