Shortness Of Breath, Ankle Swelling. Why?

I gave up smoking last November over the last 6 weeks or so I have suffered with with what feels like a shortness of breath but no cough (although I do feel like I need to) in the last week my right ankle has started to swell slightly but not all the time - other than these symptoms I feel quite okay - what could be wrong?

Hello

Your shortness of breath could be a withdrawal symptom of leaving smoking , after using if for years ? OR you have COPD chronic obstructive pulmonary disease after a prolong use of smoking even though you have left it.

Swelling of right ankle that is non painful could be gout , chronic venous insufficiency.

Hope this helps.
