Severe Pain In Lower Back And Leg. MRI Shows Stenosis, Budges At 13-14-15 On Right Side. What Drugs Should Be Stopped Before Epidural?

I am in serious leg and low back pain. I had an MRI last week that shows some stenosis and budges at l3-l4-l5 on the right side because the pain is down the back of my right leg.. I can blearily walk. If they want to do an epidural next week what drugs will they need me to stop and for how long before they do the epidural ?

Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

If the general conservative methods of management fail to provide symptom relief then an Epidural steroid injection is indicated.

Anticoagulant drugs are to be stopped atleast 5 days before having the procedure to avoid the formation of an epidural hematoma.

Generally, epidural injection may provide pain relief for a period of 6 months to 1 year.
