Retina Detached. Attached By Inserting An Oil Inside My Eye Ball. Prescribed Vesoret. Using Nevanac Eye Drop. Will This Improve Vision?

My retina was detached on February'2012. It was attached by inserting an oil inside my eye ball. After six months the oil was again taken out by another surgery. But I can see at most 10% of my actual vision till date. Now I have been prescribed to have one Vesoret every day. How this medicine can improve my vision?
For the last eight months, I am Using Nevanac eye drop, thrice daily. Will it improve my vision?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..
Visual prognosis after a retinal detachment surgery depends on the type of detachment, the time interval between the detachment, diagnosis and the treatment..The sooner the surgery done the better is the visual outcome..
Also depends the involvement of macula(visually potential area)..
Generally after removing the oil vision improves a little though anatomical closure is attained. The pre op vision is rarely attained after surgery( you have not mentioned the pre op vision)..
Vesoret contains antioxidants so as to keep your retina healthy..
It directly doesn't improve the vision but by keeping the retina free from oxidative damage helps to preserve the existing vision.
Nevanac is to reduce any redness.. If the eye is quiet you can stop using the drops..
Also IOP ( pressure inside the eye) needs to be checked..
Don't worry...keep using vesoret..
Hope this information helps you.. Will be available for further queries... Take care..

hello,
as you have retinal attachment surgery with silicon oil, since how many days retina were detached or you were having blurring of vision.
silicon oil is generally removed after 3-6 month. post op vision depends on condition of retina before detachment, present status whether completely attached, macula most important part ofretina is involved or not.it is difficult to restore complete vision if macula is not healty or you have prolonged history of blurring vision.
nevanac is generally given to decrease inflammation and it reduces chances of cystoid macular edema, also common cause of decrease of vision.
vesoret in anti-oxidant its exact role is not proven but various studies show it is helpful in retinal pathology.
nevanac will not improve your vision, it is given to prevent macular edema.
dont get upset, visit ophthalmologist regulary, retinal detachment is big surgery, vision completely depends upon condition of retina
take care,i hope i answered your all queries

hello,
well retinal surgeries are usually done to anatomically(physically)settle the detached retina, how would be functional recovery no one can predict.nevanac is usually given in case there is some kind of inflammation, vesoret is an antioxidant, like a multivitamin you can say,its just a supportive therapy.
and please follow up with your retinal surgeon whether to continue nevanac or not.

thank you
