Reddish Marks On The Body Spreading. Tried Steroid Cream. Cause?

Hello Dr Grief
Our daughter has small flat pin point and some bigger marks on her body - they are a purple, red colour. They started on her neck about a month ago - we took her to our GP who was not sure what they were but prescribed some steriod cream that does work but they keep coming back. They have now spread down the side of her body on both sides and on to her legs. She is not unwell at all so we are a bit confused but also concerned. We have not changed washing powders and I have done all her bedding in a hot wash. Your advice would be much appreciated thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and thanks for the query,
It would be interesting getting her reevaluated by the primary care physician. The steroid prescribed is suggestive of the fact that the primary care physician thought of an allergic response. Persistence or intensification might either imply the drug is inappropriate, or the cause might actually be an allergic response. There are some children that also react to some creams and this might be the case. But a keen clinical evaluation is needed to bring out these subtle differences. Viral infections or even some fungal infections could mimic an allergic presentation form the start. Changing the drug initially prescribed also could be of great help.
I suggest you revisit your primary care physician for reevaluation.
Thanks for now and best regards,
Luchuo,
