Raised nodule on the knuckle. No pain. Need to be treated?

My daughter has an odd condition on her middle knuckle of her middle finger . It is hard and dry and reminds me of a wart but it is not a raised nobbule (tit) but a large round area about the size of her knuckle. She has had it for years. Doesn t seem to bother her (as far as pain etc) but is an eye sore. Can you tell me what it is? Tina

It looks like a Ganglion,
It is a extension of synovium which is a lubricating tissue inside a joint.
It usuall occurs over a joint.
It may be preceeded with minor trauma.
It will be treated with local steroid injections or may be removed surgically.
But chances of recurrences are high with surgical excision.
Thank you
