My mother has been experiencing periodic chest pressure in the center of her chest, below her breasts for years; along with that occasional heaviness in her left arm. When the symptoms began in 2011, she had a complete cardiac work up with no significant findings. She has diagnoses of hiatal hernia, mitral valve prolapse, hypothyroidism, and asthma. Since 2011-present, the symptoms noted above occur 1-2 times per week. The past 4 days, the frequency has increased to 4-5 times per day. The episodes last a few minutes or sometimes longer than she feels fine. Her heart rate and BP have been normal. She recently had a barium swallow noting an esophageal stricture; awaiting a GI consult. She doesn't feel that the symptoms are heart related; but, I'm concerned about the heaviness she feels in her left arm when she feels the chest pressure.
