Prescribed Livalo For Improving Cholesterol Numbers. Planning To Control Cholesterol By Exercise. Recommended?

Thank you! I want to stop taking my statin, Livalo. I do not feel that I have active heart or artery disease, and my endocrinologist prescribed this one to simply improve my cholesterol "numbers." With what I have been reading concerning statin use, I'd rather try improving my cholesterol numbers with diet and exercise. If I stopped the Livalo on my own -- my checkup is more than a month away -- are there any precautions I need to know about? Is it ok to simply stop taking it, or must I taper off? My dosage is small -- just 2 mg.

Hi this is DR Nanda,It is nice to know that you want to naturally get better with your cholestral levels ,proper diet and work outs are the tools for it .It takes only your determination to bring it down .To start with fix a date in a month and get your lipid profile done.Use it as a starting point .
Diet; 1)Be consious of your oil intake ,cut down on unnecessory oily foods(fried snacks, butter etc) in your regular food.
2)Add one serving of oatmeal a day.
3)Add lots of vegitables in your day to day food
4)Regularise eating pattern,no inbetween munchings
Exercise;Adopt a form of exercise, jogging, brisk walking, yoga, even joining a gym as a part of your life style.
Every month get your lipid profile done on the same day,you will find considerable change by third month onwards. All the best.
