Prescribe Medication For Swollen Ankle And Pain In Joints

I was infected with typhoid and was admitted to hospital for 4 days. 2 days after getting discharged, i had a swollen ankle. It got relieved by a generic medication. Again after a few days, my knee and shoulder got frozen to some extent. I ran some tests and had high ESR, CRP and HLA-B27 positive. I have been on medication since last 2 months on Etoshine, SaaZ, Flovite, Folitrax and Rantac. I have got some relief in my shoulder and knee but my ankle and heel pain a lot. I cant walk bare feet. There is a little morning stiffness in morning which lasts for 5-10 minutes. Kindly advise as the above medications are not helping to reduce the levels of CRP, ESR and inflammation.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,
First of all the fever that u had earlier, was it confirmed to be typhoid. If no , then it could have been viral fever and these symptoms a part of post viral polyarthritis in which case the symptoms may drag on upto about 6 months.

The second possibility keeping in mind your symptoms, pain in shoulder, knee and ankle with early morning stiffness ( and unilateral--RA ruled out ) added to HLA B27 being positive points to Ankylosing spondylitis. This has to confirmed by taking an x ray of spine ( bamboo stick appearance in late stages).Exercises is the key.Swimming is a very good option.
