hi

Thanks for your query

i can feel your concerns

folic acid is mostly required during first three months of pregnancy

during that time it is required for organ formation especially brain and spine

it is recommended to take folic acid preconceptially and during first 3 months of pregnancy

i advise you to take calcium and multivitamin supplements after consulting your doctor

you should take iron supplements if your haemoglobin is low

improve your diet

add milk, green vegetables, fruits and meat to diet

have some healthy activity like walk especially in morning

wishing you good health

Hope i have ansewered your query
i am available for your help

Hi,
Your dr. had prescribed Gestofit & folinal for 2 mths. That was the time he saw you first( actually you should have seen him earlier),
- & considering your age, he has given it for supplimentation of these vital things for growth & security of pregnancy.
When the drugs were withdrawn,it was nearly 4.5 mths conception, the primary development of vital organs was almost done, the baby was secure, because placenta had taken over the hormonal resposibility. So the withdrawl is justified in a way.
Dexorange, calcium is minimum dietary suppliments that that are needed.
About Folic acid, actually it is prescribed before conception to compleate prgnancy period.Though you had it in the period of vital importance,& the withdrawl is not going to be hazardus, because Dexorange already has it.
You can take folic acid containing food like-
Green leafy vegs, legumes( peas, beans, lentils), yellow of egg, sunflower seeds,Baker's yeast fortified food (bread, pasta, cereals). to have natural folic acidin addition.
Pl.dont worry.
Thank you.

Hello,

Folic acid supplements (folinal) is usually given in early weeks of pregnancy (up to 12 - 16 weeks) for better development of fetal nervous system.

Therefore, at 30 weeks of gestational age, folic acid has no significant role for the same. Here, you can continue iron and calcium tab only with other supportive medication. Do one obstetric ultrasound scan for assessment of fetal well being.

Kindly consult with your obstetrician regarding this. Good luck.

hello,
thank you for using health care magic,
folic acid is required only dufing first trimester of pregnancy. no need to take it afterwards.. ideally you should take folic acid 3 months before conception but its ok even if you take it it just in first trimester not to worry.. from second trimester demand of iron increases as your baby starts growing.. continue iron tablet and calcium tablet ,now no need of folic acid..
Regards,
Dr.Nehal
