Pregnant. Took Zentel. Will This Affect Pregnancy?

Hello. Please help. I took zentel 400mg (2 pills) a few weeks ago, and probably around the same time as when I got pregnant which I did not know. I just went to do blood test today because my period was late and am confirmed pregnant at 4.5 weeks. Please advise how will this affect my pregnancy? How harmful if any to the fetus and development of the baby? Desperately worried. Thank you for your response.

Hello,
Zentel contain Albendazole.

Albendazole has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA.
In animal studies it is proved that it cause skeletal abnormalities in animals.
It is not advisable in pregnancy and also if any one plan to conceive.

Use an effective form of birth control while you are using albendazole, and for at least 1 month after your treatment ends.
Human studies not yet performed for ethical reasons.
Please consult a gynecologist.

Hope this helps.
Please write back for further queries.
Wishing you good health.
