Pregnant. Is It Possible To Have A C Seaction And A Meomectomy At The Same Time?
Hi, I am chitalu, 36 and 18 weeks pregnant. I had an operation to remove fibriods a year ago - seems they have returned and are growing at a fast rate. The last scan baby was doing fine. Doc say i will have a c section.... is it possible to have a c seaction and a meomectomy(operation to remove the fibriods) at the sametime or would it be to soon after my first operation? Can the fibriods affect the growth of my baby?
Hi,
Fibroids during pregnancy can cause various affects on the pregnancy like miscarriage and bleeding in early pregnancy, preterm labor, placental abruption, placenta praevia, preterm premature rupture of membranes and fetal anomalies and fetal growth retardation. Conversely, fibroids grow to some extent in early pregnancy and pain is the commonest complication during pregnancy. Myomectomy may be done during the first and second trimesters if needed, but a myomectomy along with a caesarean section is not advisable; it is done only when unavoidable; pedunculated subserous fibroid can be removed during caesarean delivery. Please get further suggestions from your doctor. Good luck.
