Poly Cystic Ovarian Disease. Taking Ginette And Metforfin. Side Effects?

Hi Doctor,
I am 30 and I have poly-cystic ovarian disease and having Ginette 35 and Metforfin from past 5 years. I had stopped these medications for two month and have gained 8 Kilos which is taking forever to loose. May I know if there is side affect of these medication when taken long term.
Also, could you suggest how could I loose weight effectively. I am very small eater and try to excersize at least 4 days a week for 30 to 45 mins. It would be good to know what should I absolutely avoid to loose weight in a healthy way. Thanks in advance for answering

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Ginette ( clomifene 35) & metformin both are post potent drugs for PCOD cases .
In pcod the characteristic feature is weight gain or obesity . As you mentioned that you gained 8 kg weight after stopping of drugs .
1 In my opinion you gained weight due to pcod. Diagnosis can be confirmed by ultrasound of both ovaries .
2 next reason of weight gain may be glucose intolerance , this is also in pcod cases.
In my opinion consult your treating doctor and restart treatment of pcod , I hope you will loose weight .
As you mentioned that you are a small eater so weight gain is due to pcod.
2nd point ginette also causes change in weight .
Metformin is the best for you .
Good luck. Dr. HET
