Pea Size Lump In Right Breast Next To Areola, Increased Redness, Raised And Visible. Muscle Soreness ?

Hi, Just noticed a pea size lump in my right breast at the 1 oclock position next to the aerola if your looking at me head on. I noticed it last week while backpacking with my son. It is fairly uncomfortable and hearts when touched. It has an increased redness and is slightly visible as a raised area. My first thought was a possible muscle pull d/t the pack but have no muscle soreness. I'm a 52 yo healthy male, I bike and hike often, about 1200 bike miles this year. non smoker, fairly healthy diet, 160#, non drinker, no rec. drugs, take armour thyroid for hypo thyroid, 1 grain BID My mom has had 1 breast removed d/t C in her early 60s she has passed away 2 years ago from emphysema. I have also had a golf ball sized non problematic fatty cyst on my L back for the last 20 years. I have notice upon reflection that my right nipple has been sore for some time but I just didn't think about it. I'm not prone to panic, but am curious. I plan to see my PC if it does not get better in a week or two. Thanks for your time.

Hi,
From history it seems that you might have some local infection in areola as there is h/o sore nipple recently.
Consult your doctor and get examined.
A course of antibiotic will cure of your problem.
But as there is h/o removal of breast of your mother, go for mammography later on to rule out risk of having any pathology in the breasts.
Ok and take care.
