Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

From the description of symptoms, I suspect MORTON'S METATARSALGIA in you.

Either ultrasound examination or MRI scan is needed to diagnose the condition.

The management of this condition involves-

* using silicon arch supports and foot pads in the shoes
* Some patients may benefit from local steroid injections
* If the symptoms are not resolving, then a decompression surgery may be indicated.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement Dr. Saurabh Gupta's  Response
Hi,
your symptoms suggestive of Morton's Metatarsalgia.
X-rays are not useful, except to rule out other causes.
If there is no relief from symptomatic padding then the neuroma may be excised . Cortisone injections are also used as treatment option for this condition.
Hope this helps you.You can cosult me again directly through my profile http://www.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-saurabh-gupta/64132
