Pain In Knee While Jogging, Slight Pain While Sitting, Slight Swelling In Knee. Healthy And Active Lifestyle. On Crepe Band And Ice Packs. Suggest

Hi Doctor I am a female 32 years of age. I do cardio three times a week along with functional workout and 2 days kick boxing. Off late I get pain in my right knee only while jogging, there is a slight pain when i am sitting but its very very faint or maybe it happens post my workout.
I can walk in the garden or on the treadmill for 30mins continuously I can do spot jogging or jumps but jogging I cant which I could do non stop slow pace for over 30 minutes at a stretch either on the treadmill or on the pavered pathway in the garden. I haven't shown an orthopedic as yet but I can notice slight swelling on my right knee.
I have started applying ice packs and ointment on the area and then wearing a crepe band over it and sleeping.

Can you pls suggest what should I do?

Regards
Aparna

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us
The symptoms you have described are more likely to be symptoms of muscles strain while jogging.
I advice you to follow the below mentioned guidelines -
* Give adequate rest to the involved muscle group and avoid any movement that causes pain
* Ice packing once in every 2 hours over the affected area
* Moist heat application to relax the muscles
* Local application of muscle relaxant gel
* Analgesic medications as needed

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.

Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Vaibhav Gandhi's  Response
Hello Aparna,
Thanks for writing to us,

knee synovitis is common due to twisting knee injury or may be due to overexertion syndrome.
You may need some investigation like Xray knee and MRI knee.
If there is no history of any injury then blood investigation are needed to rule out causes of synovits.

Till time take rest, ice fomentation to continue, take analgesic.
Knee support like knee cap will be helpful, physiotherapy like USG and TENS will help.

I hope that I have answered your query. Let me know if I can help you further. Take care
