PAP Smear Shows Enlarged Uterus, Large Mass Coming From Left Side Where Left Ovary Not Found. What Is This ?
Recently had a PAP smear which resulted in finding that the uterus is enlarged to a point where ovaries could not be examined or even found. Scheduled a ultra sound which found a large mass coming from the left side where left ovary was not found. This mass consists of fibers and no liquid. Third appt at Ob-Gyn ....another pap and exam, blood work and deciding fron this to have this mass removed with the surgeon and the onchologist there for the procedure....Does this sound like the right thing to do? I must say it makes me a little nervous to think they are going to cut from the belly button to the pelvic area. What to expect???
Probably you have fibroiduterus. Many times ovaries are not seen due to various reasons,so don't worry about this. If fibroid uterus is causing distressing symptoms then surgical removal is the choice. After taking out the mass,it can be send for histopathology. Don't scared from operation.you will be alright after operation. Get well soon.
