Ovarian Cyst Not Showing Up In CT Scan, Ultrasound, Pain Exists. Reason And Cure?
My sister was told that she has a 5cm cyst on an ovary that was supposed to have been removed along with the other ovary 10 years ago. The pain comes and goes... CT scan showed the tumor , but follow up ultra sound 1 month later showed nothing on said ovary but there is still discomfort. A new CT scan is ordered for 10/29, what would happen to a cyst that was 5cm and isn t showing on the ovary now even though pain remains? What should we look for or ask her doctor?
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. The reason of pain may be else. As you stated that there was a cyst of 5 cm and now there is no cyst . Sometimes ovarian cyst resolve itself and also recurs so this is a not a cause of concern. The most important point is pain in the operated area , so this pain may be due to old operated scar or adhesion so get in ultrasound and this will show the whole thing. If she is feeling pain you can use pain killers till then. If cyst persist then take a treatment , if not then well and good. Good luck. Dr. HET
