Ongoiong Deepening, Husky Voice. Prescribed Apo Omeprazole After Checking Vocal Cords. Right Dosage?

What is the correct dosage for APO-OMEPRAZOLE 20mg... I Have over the last few years had an ongoing problem with deepening voice and gravelly, husky voice. the specialist in the consultation did a procedure placing a scope through my nose to check my vocal cords and prescribed the above at 4 daily, the pharmacist told me to only take 1 daily............?

Welcome to HCM.What you are suffering from appears to be LaryngoPharyngeal Reflux Disease(LPRD),in this condition the reflux of stomach contents reaches the throat and the larynx causing damage to the mucous membranes and other structures.This can result in hoarseness of voice,throat irritation and cough.You will need to take small frequent meals,remain upright for at least 30 minutes after meals,avoid alcohol,caffeine,tomato based products,citrus fruits,mint,chocolate .Supper should be at least 3 hours before retiring,avoid fluids after supper.PPIs like Omeprazole,Sucralfate and prokinetic drugs will help.Avoid loud talking and whispering,sip water to clear your throat .Your ENT specialist can guide you further.Elevation of the head end of the bed by 6-8 inches will help.

YOU have deepening, husky voice suggestive of acute laryngitis most probably due to the acid reflux disease. For mild to moderate case APO-OMEPRAZOLE 20mg suffice and for severe cases APO-OMEPRAZOLE 40mg . Again consult your specialist.
