On Mirena Iud. Smoking Marijuana. Side Effects, Risks?

I currently have the mirena IUD, I have been smoking marijuana the whole time for the past three years and have a couple more years before the expiration of the IUD device. I know there are serious side effects for tobacco smoke, but there are not alot of studies for people whom smoke marijuana. Would anyone please inform me of the risks associated with my recreational use.

Hi there ~

Although there are no studies that show that recreational marijuana use has serious side effects, there are case reports of marijuana use on a recreational basis causing psychological effects and precipitating depression and psychosis. There is also evidence of other medical problems when the marijuana is "dirty" i.e. laced with other chemicals and substances. I would encourage you to research more on the ill effects of marijuana on the national institute of health website.

I hope this helps. Take care and have a lovely day!
