No Large Colon, Medtronics Pain Pump Taken. Taking Morphine And Roxicodone. Will The Long Acting Pills Not Act Effectively Due To Small Intestine?

I do not have a large colon . I had a Medtronics pain pump, which I had to have removed due to infection . I had this pump for 6 years, withDilaudid, set really high. My doctor is trying to bump me down off the pump with morphine pills and roxicodone pills. Other doctors have told me that the long acting pills will not act as such since I do not have a large intestine . Is this true?
