Need Medication For Cough & Severe Cold

Hi Doc, I am having severe cold for more than eight days. my nose is running and cough is stuck in the chest and also sour throat. I took Nuhist tablet for three days, 3 tabs per day and Roxithromycin, 2 tabs per day for four days and also Ambrolite-s cough cyrup for the same time. But I didn't get positive result. The pharmacist changed it to CEFTAS CV 200 and Omnacortil-20 and Ambrolite Levo cough cyrup. Is is the right combination for my cure. Regards, Dinesh

I can understand your situation and problem.
No, this is not right combination of drugs.
You have given omnacortil, which is oral steroid. And oral steroids are not indicated in cold. So better not to take omnacortil.
Ambrolite syrup is having mucolytic, expectorant. So it will worsen your coughing. So better not to take this.
You should start antihistamines and anti inflammatory drugs. Antihistamine is needed for cough suppression. Anti inflammatory drug is needed to relieve throat edema and inflammation.
Along with drugs, drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated. Avoid stress and tension. Avoid oily and spicy food. Avoid junk food.
Do warm water gargles 5-6 times a day.
Don't worry, you will be alright. Stop omnacortil and Ambrolite syrup.
