Medication For Removing Sputum Due To Heart Bypass Surgery

Hello. My father recently (last week) underwent Heart Bypass surgery . He was discharged yesterday from hospital. While everything looks OK, He is not able to breathe/sleep properly because of cough that does not come out inspite of him trying his best. We were told by doctors discharging that sputum collection is common after a surgery and will get eliminated in a week or so. So far, no luck. Is there any natural medication OR OTC that I can try for him ?

Hi,
Its good if you get a nebuliser machine from market and nebulise him twice a day .It will help in removing and loosening the sputum hence cough will be relieved.Nebulising with plain saline water will work well.
Regards
