Lost Consciousness After Head Knock, Swelling And Bump Formation, Have Headaches, Nausea, Stiff Neck. What Could Be Wrong?

I was playing rugby, and I had a head knock (don't think it was serious, I did not lose consciousness and was not dizzy after about 5-10 seconds), but I have a swelling and bump below and behind my ear, on the side that I was hit. What could this be, and what should I do? I do not have severe headaches, nausea, or a stiff neck.

Hi,

Its common to have falls while playing.

As you say, the fall was not serious and you did not lose consciousness.

All that is worrying you is a lump behind your ear.

The lump. as you have described it, is a soft tissue scalp swelling below the skin and nothing to worry. It will disappear in a week or so.

If you had vomiting, blackout, visual disturbances or severe headaches (none of which yuou have mentioned), then you must see a doctor.

Hope this helps.
