Less Urine Even After Drinking Lots Of Water, Pain. Diagnosed As Urinary Infection. Taking Antibiotics, No Improvement. Suggestions?

my husband was diagnosed yesterday morning Monday with a urine infection, so far has taken antibiotics since then. one twice daily. he is feeling terrible and the pain is no better at all. i think he has some sort of blockage as he is passing very little urine in spite of drinking. what else can he do to ease the discomfort. he is 64

Urinary tract infection UTI do produce sever symptoms like dysuria, burning sensation and increased frequency of micturation.Yes he can have retention of urine due to what is called as benign hyperplasia of prostate (BHP)which is very common at this age (64) and occur almost in every male at this age.BHP could be responsible for his UTI .Get his ultrasound abdomen done to confirm BHP and retention of urine. Continue with antibiotics. He may need catheterization for retention of urine, for which you have to take him to ER.
