Laproscopic Hysterectomy Done, Advised Not To Have Sex. Hurts On Urinating, Bowel Movement. Is There Swelling, Blockage?

I had a laproscopic totally hysterectomy three weeks ago. I went for my check up and my doc said I can do whatever I want besides sex...sounds odd compared to so many other stories I'm reading. Anyway, I have had an amazing recovery, however, when I urinate, it hurts, like the urethra is being blocked or something....I have to push, it get's like a cramp or something, so I have to stop and start again...same with a bowel movement, still hurts. Simple question, is everything still swollen in there and can be partially blocking these parts?

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Tissues can be swollen for a week or so after a surgery. Moreover hysterectomy should not affect urinating or bowels. So there might be some surgery complication. The first thing you should think of is a blood collection or even an abscess.
The pain can be also caused by urinary tract infection or hernia in the scar area. It is really hard to tell not being able to examine you.

Please visit your doctor and have abdominal ultrasound, blood work and urine analysis.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
