Kid Is Frequently Suffering With Cold, Cough And Fever, Suggested CT Scan Of Nose And PNS. Is It Safe ?

My 3 years kid is frequently suffering with cold, cough and fever (once in 45 days)...we have done the X-ray for Nose as per pediatric suggestion and now ENT doctor suggested us with CT scan nose & PNS plain. so is this diagnostic is good for 3 years kid as i heard CT scan will involve lot of radiation stuff. please advise.

Hi,
CT scans do involve radiation but the staff operating the scanner are highly trained to use the smallest amount of radiation necessary to obtain the scans. A CT scan would only be suggested if the benefits of the scan outweigh the risks. If the scan is going to help with the diagnosis then your child will get the correct treatment promptly.
