Itching Toes, Numbness. Do Not Have Diabetes

Two days ago, both of my big toes began itching intensely and later that night before bed I noticed they were numb. They were numb all day yesterday at work ( acute care physical therapist) and any time that I sat down to write notes for more than 1 minute, I felt like I had to constantly curl my toes to keep my feet from falling asleep. I thought maybe my sneakers were too tight bc my feet have fallen asleep when I ve been exercising plenty of times, but it did not help. They don t fall asleep when I m asleep. For several years I ve had occasional itching around my ankles, especially after being in the shower. And I do not have diabetes as I was just checked twice in the last year and not even close. I m only 25 so I hesitate to think its a vascular issue but I m no medical doctor...

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Itching and numbness is usually caused by irritation to nerves or compression of vessels. some toxin formed in our body due to high unsaturated fat diet can irritate nerves. Vitamin B12 deficiency can also damage nerve cells and cause itching and numbness. Sometimes obesity and bad posture can cause numbness in arms and legs.
You are advised to get some tests like Vit B12 levels, uric acid, urine test and CBC.
You should take healthy balanced diet.
Regular exercise can help.
Hope it helps.
Take Care!
