Itching On Torso. Have Low Grade Fever And Tiredness With Pain In Body. Shingles?

hi, I am a 30 yr old female and I keep getting slightly itchy small spots on my torso. They tend to come when i am stressed. Before the spots appear I have low grade fevers, feel really tired, my legs ache and just feel unwell. They go away after a week or so. other Dr s have told me they are shinggles but look nothing like it and there is no pain associated.

Dear jm03, Shingles is probably an 'inappropriately' used term here. Shingles typically refers to herpes zoster infection that arises post varicella (chicken pox). What you are experiencing is probably simple herpes simplex. You may want to do some blood tests to ascertain if it is a type1 or type 2 infection as it may affect the long term prognosis depending on your personal demographics. As you rightly put it, stress plays a major role in preciptating these spurts & even onset of your 'periods' may precipitate these eruptions. A long term antiviral prophylaxis with antivirals may be useful depepending on your compliance with medication. Alternatively a lifestyle change & simple measures to stay happy will go a long way in alleivating your problem but that is advice easier rendered than put to practice :) Still am around should you need any further advice/help & you are most welcome to come visit if you are in the vicinity.
