Itching Around Anus. Prescribed Antibiotics For Yeast Infection, Not Effective. How To Cure?

A year ago i had gastric bypass surgery .. have lost 115 lbs. I am having a difficult time with some itching around my anus . My surgeon thought it might have been a yeast infection and I took the antibiotic that he prescribed, however it didn t work. I have also tried creams such as desitin, vagisil, hemorroid medication, and lotrimin spray. Nothing helps.

Hi,

Gastric bypass surgery allowing to losing 115 lbs in 1 year is creditable and looks to be successful.
The anal itching is known to occur in some cases due to the following reasons:
Since there is less time for digested food to pass through intestines the factors like pancreatic juice may not have sufficient time to act on food as a part of intestine is bypassed.
Another reason can be intestinal infection.
Local skin problems like dermatitis can also occur.
This can be diagnosed by the following.
A proper clinical evaluation of the peri-anal skin to know whether there
are any local causes.
Tests of stool can help to know about any intestinal infection and get treated accordingly.
You may need probiotics and multivitamins with mineral for local skin disorder.
Local hygiene of the skin, loose clothes, avoiding hot and humid atmosphere can help more.
Take small and frequent meals.
Identify the foods and beverages that instigate or enhance the problems and avoid these.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,
