Is Vomiting A Side Effect Of Defcort?

Dear Sir, My son is 10 months old. He is presently suffering form cough, cold and a throat infection. I consulted a Pediatrician and was prescribed the foll. Refzil o Azithral jr Defcort Viscodyne My query is why did he prescribe 2 antibiotics (azithral and refzil o) when both of them are for the same purpose. SEcondly, the baby vomets everytime he is given defcort, but the doctor says continue it. Should I stop giving defcort. Regards Sandeep

Hi,

Yes, vomiting is an important side effect of the steroid defcort. Ask his treating doctor for an alternate effective but a safer medicine. The reason of combining two different antibiotics could be to over come the bacterial resistance had either of these been used alone.
