Psychiatrist Dr. Keerthish Shetty's  Response
Hi Arun,
There are three important things that should be considered.
1. Did you mean she hears songs in her ears? In such a case, the diagnosis may or may not be depression. Chemical imbalance in brain can cause several other problems apart from depression.
2. It is very unlikely for a psychiatrist to prescribe medicines for only one week. Are you sure he did not ask you to follow up after one week?
3. Consult your doctor before planning for marriage. Many psychiatric illness have chances of recurrence. Therefore, it is not advisable to withhold this information from her prospective husband and in-laws. Many families have got into trouble after marriage due to this reason.
