Is There A Need For Another Sinus Surgery Which Is Infected Due To Chest Cold And Sinus Surgery On Left Side Done Few Months Ago?

Hello. I had sinus surgery this past October on the left-hand side and he suctioned everything out, including the infection. He did not bother doing the right side due to the risks. (I was totally filled up on both sides.) Unfortunately, just this week, I caught a chest cold, which is now moving up into the sinuses (yellowish-greenish mucuous w/some clear thick mucuous). I have been doing saline sprays, neti pots, and use a humidifier. I am worried I will need surgery again, but it is a moot point if this is going to keep happening every time I catch a cold (which it does.) Do you have any suggestions? Thank you. Very, very frustrated. Unfortunately, I am out of a job and going into foreclosure, so can not afford to pay. That's o.k., nevermind.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi and thanks for the query,
Every time you catch a cold immediately start using decongestant nose drops like otrivin.
They help to keep your sinuses open and well ventilated thereby reducing chances of getting infected.
Instill 3 drops of otrivin in each nostril and follow it up with steam inhalation 3 times daily for 5 days,
Otrivin cannot be used too frequently.. it will produce excessive nasal congestion if overused.
You may also require an antibiotic hence pay a visit to the doctor.
Regards,
Dr Kishori.
