Is Supraclavicular Node Occurring As A Reaction To Tdap Vaccine Possible?

I am a 30 year old female who is overall healthy. I received my Tdap vaccine yesterday in my right arm and today my neck was sore and when rubbing my neck I noticed what I think to be a supraclavicular node (above the right clavicle) approximately pea sized (maybe slightly larger). It is tender to touch and mobile and I do not feel any other enlarged nodes (no cervical, axillary or other supraclavicular). I have no signs of illness at this time and had a physical yesterday that was normal. Can this be a reaction to the Tdap vaccine?

Hello,

While this is not a normal response to the vaccine, the vaccine does activate your immune system, and so I do think it would be possible that it would cause an enlarged lymph node on the side that you received the injection. If this is the case, there wouldn't be anything to worry about, and the lymph node should go back to normal within a couple of weeks.

I would suggest just keeping an eye on it and making sure that it does not continue to grow and that it goes back to normal within 4 weeks. If not, I would recommend that you have a doctor take a look at it in order to decide whether it needs a biopsy or not. However, I would not expect you to have any problems with this.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
