Is Smoking Marijuana Safe After Surgery?

Hello Doctors,
I know as a doctor you are to tell people not to smoke marijuana after colonoscopy after waking up from the effects of propofol.
But in all honesty is it ok to smoke marijuana after several hours after the surgery and taking propofol?

Thank you

Hello,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

Any form of smoking (Nicotine or Marijuana) reduces vascular circulation by causing vaso-constriction. Decrease blood supply decreases process of healing after colonoscopy procedure.

Same time smoking reduces immunity and increases chances of having infection after colonoscopy procedure done under anesthetic agent like propofol. So, it is better to stop any form of smoking.

Wishing you good health and all the best.
