Is Restless Normal While On Sertraline Treatment For Anxiety?

I am always feeling restless and its often seen in my hand and legs, I keep moving hand and leg continously and cant help myself stopping it. I have started Sertraline treatment last month for my anxiety disorder. My details (Age: 27, Sex: Male, Height: 5 ft 6 in). My hair is also falling rapidly and I am worried about this

Hello Welcome to HCM

You have complaints of restlessness, shakiness in hands and legs and you are not able to control these. Sertraline is a SSRI drug and it works by increasing serotonin transmission in brain. This is a good drug for anxiety and is also very safe to take. The drug is devoid of serious side effects. The drug usually start showing its effect in about 4-6 weeks.

The problem of hair fall can be due to some nutritional deficiency. Sertraline is not a reason for that. Consult a dermatologist for detailed opinion for that. Start taking Biotine and PABA (para amino benzoic acid) supplements to decrease hair fall.

If you have severe symptoms of anxiety you can consult your psychiatrist and you can take medicines like Clonazepam on sos basis. The drug help in improving the symptoms of anxiety and calms individual.
