Is Mild Rash And Itching Serious Enough To Discontinue A Medicine?

Hi, I started Lamictal 2 weeks ago. Started with 25 mg/day, went to 50 mg/day a week ago, and to 75 mg/day beginning yesterday, per Doctor's instructions. I have itchy skin and a mild rash on my right hand. My doctor said to discontinue Lamictal if a rash appeared. Is this rash serious enough to discontinue the medicine? I have an appointment with my doctor today.

It is better to stop if the rash ocured shortly after starting the medications. But,minimal itching, that too started after a weak of the drug,is likely to come down.In my clinic,in such a situation,i will ask my patient to wait for 1-2 days befor stopping the drug.If the rash comes down, desensitization is likely, and the drug can be continued. If it escalates, has to be immediately discontinued.
i hope you will find this information useful.thank you.
